Henchir Dheb, The Golden Farm, is the dream come true of Jan Demeulemeester, painter, and Leila Derouiche Rafrafi. It was after having seen Lawrence of Arabia at age twelve that Jan knew he would one day live in a desert country. Chasing the bright sunlight, he finally settled in Tunisia in 2005 where he met and married Leila, who made a profession out of welcoming guests to her native country. Prior to Henchir Dheb, she had been event manager at The Residence Hotel.
Today they form the perfect duo to let you discover Tunisia: Belgian-born Jan, who, thanks to the many cultural trips he has guided, knows the country better than most natives, and Tunisian-born Leila, the country’s best ambassador of the legendary Arab hospitality, who plays with the local tastes and colours.
